To the Brink New York City went to the playoffs. They were a few outs away from a possible entrance and their entry to playoffs was dismissed. to await another 365 days to a possible entrance again.
Moses had the same circumstance of almost being allowed to enter the promised land. But Moses failed to enter the promised land and had to endure 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. Yikes.

But you realize, don't you, that I'm a Cubs fan? The Mets are the team that knocked us out in 1969. Normally, I rejoice whenever the Mets lose, but for your sake, I won't be snotty about it this year. :) I know they had a lot of turmoil with the firing of the manager and all, and I hope they do better next year.

I don't mind you sharing it with your husband. writing is to elicit the emotions. We may need to install a burning bush to remind people of the near miss and a reminder so no one has to wander in the baseball wilderness another 28 years before a world series crown.
plenty of criticism and concern has been expressed re the mets. Just another team. With good chances for 2009 let us hope.
