Our family didn't have our own place in Maine, but we used to like to go up there with my grandparents, and it was tough when my grandfather had Alzheimers for 15 years. It's certainly a struggle and a sadness. Take care of your dad as well as you are able. It sounds like he is in a safe place at least.
